I was shopping in Hobby Lobby one day and I came across a sheet of plastic canvas. This plastic canvas comes in a variety of sizes and I knew we had to try and create something fun and unique with it! It is very easy to work with and I love how you can cut it to any shape you want.

The first thing that popped in my head was cutting it to the shape of a tree. I have a lot of ideas flowing in my head for this plastic canvas, but right now I am going to show you how easy it is to turn a sheet of plastic canvas into a fun and unique tree!

The supplies you will need are:

1. One sheet of plastic canvas (this sheet i am using is 13 9/16 inch x 22 9/16 inch and I got it from Hobby Lobby)

2. Scissors

3. Ribbon of your choice (I am using burlap ribbon from Hobby Lobby)

4. Pipe cleaners

5. Tape measure

6. Marker

The first step is to draw the shape of your tree onto the plastic canvas.

I first started with the trunk of my tree. I came in 23 squares on each of the plastic canvas.

I then came up 14 squares which formed the trunk of my tree.

I cut the two bottom corners off. Now you will need to go the top of the sheet of plastic canvas and mark the center point.

I counted 33 squares over and marked the center. You will now need to hold your tape measure at the center point and come down to the lower corner.

Take your marker and draw your two lines to form the top of your tree. Now take your scissors and cut your tree completely out.

Next you will need to decide how thick you want your strips of ribbon to be. I am using a burlap ribbon and I am cutting g my strips about 2 1/2 inches wide.

I am cutting my strips 2 1/2 wide and leaving them 5 1/2 inches long which is the width of my burlap ribbon.

Then I cut my pipe cleaners into smaller strips. These strips can be any size you want. You will be using these strips to attach your ribbon to the plastic canvas.

You will want to take your strip of ribbon and roll it.

Once you have your strip of ribbon rolled you will take your pipe cleaner and wrap it around the center.

I give the pipe cleaner one twist to hold it in place.

You will then place the ends of the pipe cleaner through the holes of the plastic canvas.

You will twist them again on the back side of the plastic canvas which will now hold your ribbon in place.

I did not place my ribbons in any particular order or certain amount of space apart from each other. I just added my ribbons here and there until my tree was completely full looking.

I did the same process for the trunk of my tree.

You should have all your end pieces of your pipe cleaners on the back side of your tree. I will have this hanging on a door so you won’t be seeing the back side. You can always cover the back side with a piece of burlap if you don’t want the pipe cleaners showing.

This can be done with so many different types of ribbon. I just love how it turned out and I hope you will all give it a try.
