Okay everyone we have been doing so many DIY’s using wooden shims but I must say I’m super excited about this one. I love candles and I’m creating a fun decorative candle that I can put on my trees.

This is super easy to make and the supplies you will need are:

1. Wooden shims

2. Hot glue

3. Elmer’s glue

4. Gold glitter

5. Cream paint and a stain

6. Scissors

7. Ribbon

8. Paint brush

I cut my shims three different sizes. You can cut yours any size that you want.

Next you will want to paint your shims. I am using a buttermilk color and then I am using a maple gel stain. Both of these are by Deco Art.

While my shims are drying I will cut the flames for my candles. You will want to cut these from a thin end of a shim. It is easier to cut them going up in a straight direction.

You will need to cut 3 flames for your three candles.

I lightly added some stain over my candles. This is optional but I wanted mine to look a little grungy.

You will then glue your flames onto the back side of your candles. I am using hot glue for this step.

You will then add hot glue to the top of the candle. You will want this too look like dripping wax.

I then added some of the gel stain over the hot glue.

I painted Elmer’s glue onto my flames and then sprinkled with gold glitter.

It is now time to glue all three candles together.

The last step is to add some ribbon.

These are so easy to make and you can use them for so many things. I love them in my trees but they would look amazing on a wreath too.
