Around Halloween time you will see a lot of plastic orange pumpkin buckets in your stores. These pumpkin buckets are usually around one dollar and I just knew there had to be a way to change them up. I love decorating for Halloween and I just knew there had to be a way to use one of these buckets to create a fun and unique jack o lantern.
The supplies I will be using are:
1. A plastic pumpkin bucket (I got mine from Walmart)
2. Box cutter
3. Scissors
4. Duct tape
5. Spray paint
6. Mod podge
7. Tissue paper (I’m using a cream colored tissue paper)
8. Something for a stem (I’m using a door knob that I got from Hobby Lobby)
9. Paint brush
The pumpkin bucket already has a face. I used a box cutter to cut the face out.
Once you have the face completely cut out you will then add the duct tape to the top opening.
I completely covered the opening of the bucket with duct tape. You want to make sure it is completely covered and tight.
I then used the box cutter to cut an opening on the bottom of the bucket. I am cutting this opening so I can place my operated candle in the pumpkin.
Next you will spray paint your bucket. I am spray painting mine with a cream colored spray paint. I am using a cream color because I want to decoupage a cream colored tissue paper onto my pumpkin.
You can spray paint your pumpkin any color you want. I will be decoupaging tissue paper onto my pumpkin but you can use any type of paper you want.
I will be using mod podge to decoupage the tissue paper onto the pumpkin.
There are so many different ways you can cover this pumpkin but I thought the tissue paper technique would blend in with the duct tape.
I got an amazing knob from Hobby Lobby that I knew would be perfect for this pumpkin.
I’m sharing this idea because I want to show you that there are so many ways you can get creative with this plastic pumpkin bucket. I hope you will all get creative and turn this bucket into a fun and unique pumpkin.
