I recently bought a shadow box and I’ve been wanting to get creative with it. Summer is right around the corner which means everyone will start planting in their gardens. I thought it would be fun to turn the shadow box into a light up garden window.
The supplies that I’ll be using are:
1. One 11”x14” shadow box
2. Hot glue
3. Drill with a Hole Saw
4. Moss
5. Branches from my yard
6. Greenery and flowers
7. One strand of 20 count lights
8. Frosted Glass spray paint by Rust-oleum
I purchased my shadow box from Hobby Lobby. You can use any size shadow box for this garden window.
I used the hole saw to cut a hole into the back of the shadow box. This hole will allow me to add my lights to the shadow box. I was going to use a clip light but my shadow box is not deep enough.
You’ll want to use the frosted glass spray on both sides of the glass.
Once you have the glass frosted it’s then time to rearrange your sticks onto the shadow box.
You’ll want to use the hot glue to hold your sticks in place.
There is no right or wrong way to create this window. I glued my first 2 sticks in place and then I glued some moss around the frame.
I added a few more sticks to the sides and some flowers to the bottom. You can add as many sticks as you want. I added a lot of hot glue and added more moss to help hold the sticks and flowers in place.
I added a strand of 20 lights through the hole in the back of the shadow box.
I wanted to use plug in lights instead of battery operated lights.
I taped the lights around the inside of the shadow box.
I just love how this window turned out. This is a fun and unique decoration. There are so many different ways to get creative with this. This can be added to your porch or any where in your home. I hope you’ll get creative and give this a try.
