It’s time to start thinking about Valentine’s decor! I’m switching things up this year and leaning into more neutral colors. One of the projects I want to make is a heart wreath using chunky yarn.

1. Cardboard
2. Large piece of paper for pattern
3. X-acto knife or box cutter
4. Hot glue
5. Olive colored velvet chunky yarn
6. Craft sticks
7. Burlap
8. Greenery

The first step is to make your heart pattern. I folded a piece of paper in half and drew out my heart.

After you’ve drawn your pattern, you’ll want to cut it out.

After cutting out your pattern, go ahead and trace it onto the cardboard.

The next step is to cut it out.

After cutting it out, glue craft sticks to one side to give the heart extra support and keep it from bending.

Now it’s time to start wrapping the yarn around the heart.

Once the heart is fully covered with chunky yarn, you can add some greenery. I’m using pieces from half spheres from our website, which you can find by clicking the links below.

You can leave the wreath as is, or add a back. I’m adding a piece of burlap to the back of mine.

This wreath can be made with any color yarn you like. I hope you’ll get creative and give this heart wreath a try.
