We are always trying to create fun and unique items here at The Shabby Tree and I thought it would be fun to create a Christmas sweatshirt. I really want a fun and unique tree print sweatshirt. We have used a mixture of water and bleach to create some fun t-shirts and I thought it would be fun to use the same technique for this sweatshirt.
The supplies I will be using are:
1. One sweatshirt from Walmart and the brand is Time and True
2. Spray bottle of half bleach and half water
3. One cypress tree (this tree is from our website)
4. Scissors or wire cutters
5. One piece of cardboard
6. Paint (I am using white, yellow, purple, blue, red and orange)
7. Paint brush
You will want to place a piece of cardboard in between your sweatshirt.
I cut pieces from the cypress tree and laid them onto the sweatshirt in the shape of a tree.
This takes some patience to get the pieces in the right spots. I used a small piece of cardboard to create the trunk of my tree.
You will lightly spray the bleach mixture over the tree. I sprayed more around the edges of the greenery and then over the rest of the sweatshirt.
As you start to lift the greenery you will begin to see the tree print.
I wanted this sweatshirt to have a festive Christmas feel so I decided to use paint to create the look of colored lights.
You can use fabric paint or just regular acrylic paint. I will wash this sweatshirt by itself for the first wash.
There are so many different ways to get creative with this and I hope you will give it a try.
