I am a person who is always on the go and one of my favorite things to do is to go Antique shopping. When I’m out and about shopping I don’t like to carry my big purse around with me which is why I wanted to find a way to create a fun and unique fanny pack!
A fanny pack makes it so much easier for me to shop and look at things without worrying about having my purse in my hand or over my shoulder. There are so many different ways to make a fanny pack but I’m going to show you a very quick and easy way I love to make mine!
The supplies I am using are:
1. A small zippered canvas bag from Hobby Lobby (or any other store you are able to find a similar one)
2. Cotton twill ribbon by the yard
3. Scissors
4. Glue gun with surebonder fabric glue sticks
5. Doilies
The canvas bag I bought from Hobby Lobby has a strap that I will be cutting off. I love this canvas bag because it has a zipper which will help to keep my items inside the bag.
You will now need to cut 2 strips of the cotton twill ribbon. I am using this ribbon because it works perfect for making the loops that we need.
I am cutting 2 strips and they are each 7 inches long.
You now need to glue the ribbon strips to form a loop. Your loop needs to be big enough to slip your belt through.
You will want to add a good amount of the surebonder glue to secure your loop ends together.
You will do this to both strips of ribbon forming 2 seperate loops.
Now you will need to glue the loops to back side of the canvas bag. Be sure to glue them evenly to the top back side of the bag.
Next I added doilies to the front side of the canvas bag. I am gluing them to the top front part only.
You will need to make sure the glue stays above the zipper part.
I added a few different sized doilies on top of each other. Once they are glued to the top part only the rest can hang over to cover the zipper part.
The doilies become a flap over the zipper.
You then slide you belt through the loops on the back of you back and then through your jean loops.
I just love how easy this is to make and how cute it turned out!
There are so many different ways to create a Fanny pack. I feel like this is a very quick and simple way to create a fun and unique one in your own style!
I also love to take old vintage purses and sew a loop onto the back to turn it into a fanny pack. I recommend sewing a loop onto the vintage purse so that you don’t ruin the purse. You can always cut the thread to remove the loop from the back of the vintage purse.
I hope you guys enjoyed this fun and simple DIY and I hope that you will all get creative and give it a try!
