I love crafting and if you follow The Shabby Tree then you know I love using a variety of embellishments on my items. I love using doilies but I wanted to make something that I can add to my banners, broaches or maybe even a lamp shade. A flower is something that can be used on a variety of items. I knew I wanted it to be and quick and easy to make.

The supplies you will need are:

1. Jute or yarn of your choice.

2. Scissors

3. Fabric (I’m using some burlap)

4. Glue gun ( I am using surebonder fabric glue)

5. Buttons ( I’m using buttons I got from Walmart)

The first thing you will need to do is cut out small circles of your fabric. I’m just cutting a circle that is slightly larger then my button. Your circle needs to be big enough to glue all your jute loops around.

The next step is to cut your strips of jute. We will be cutting 20 strips.

I cut my stops about 5 inches long.

You now have your circle of fabric, your button and 20 strips of jute. It is now time to form your flower. You will put glue into your circle.

I do this in sections.

You will then loop a strand of jute and place onto the glue.

You will do this around the whole circle using 10 strips of your jute.

You now have the first layer of your petals complete. Next you will take the other 10 strips of jute and do the same thing overlapping them on top of your previous layer of petals.

You will now have two layers of jute petals. Each layer having 10 petals.

Now it is time to add your button. I want my butting to be flat so I cut off the back piece of my button. This will allow me to glue it flush to my petals.

You then add glue to back if your button and place onto the center of your petals.

You now have a jute flower that can be added to a variety of items.

These can be added to so many items such as a lamp shade, hat, purse, pillow or a banner. I hope you all enjoy this DIY and give it a try.
