Ok I seem to be giving everything an old rusty look lately. I started using an amazing product by DecoArt called Designer Finishes and I seem to be hooked on the rustic metal finish. This is an easy product to use and it allowed me to turn a piece of cardboard into a rusty angel.
The supplies I will be using are:
1. One piece of cardboard
2. Angel pattern (you can print the pattern down below)
3. Scissors
4. Hot glue
5. Paint brush
6. Designer Finish by DecoArt and I am using the rusty metal finish
7. Cinnamon
You can find the angel patterns below
The first step is to trace your pattern onto the cardboard and then cut it out.
I want to peel the top layer of the cardboard off in a few places. This will give you the corrugated look.
Once I peeled off what I wanted I then glued the wings on to the back side of the angel.
The Designer Finishes has all the step by step directions on the back side of the packaging. The first step is to paint the tin all over the cardboard angel.
Once the tin is dry you will then want to add the Georgia Clay and the Texture.
You will want to mix equal amounts of each together.
You will then want to randomly apply this to your angel.
Once it is dry you will then add the Asphaltum over it. You will want to add a little water to the Asphaltum. I just dipped my brush into water and then into the paint.
I wanted to give it a strong rusty appearance so I sprinkled cinnamon over the Asphaltum.
This product is amazing and my cardboard angel now looks like a rusty tin angel. You can place this angel any where throughout your home. I hope you will all get creative and give this a try.
