The stores are starting to put out their Spring decorations and I am seeing a lot of simple wooden bunnies. If you have been following The Shabby Tree then you already know that I love trying to change things up and create a fun and unique version of something I see in a store. I purchased a simple wooden ball bunny from one of our local stores and I believe we can create something similar using tennis balls.
The supplies I will be using are:
1. Two tennis balls
2. Hot glue
3. Small wooden stick or dowel
4. Small piece of felt
5. Brown paint
6. Cinnamon
7. Two wooden biscuits
8. Box cutter
9. Paint brush
The first step is to paint the tennis balls with the brown paint.
I sprinkled cinnamon all over the painted tennis balls.
I cut a small strip of the dowel a little shorter then the length of the two balls together. . You will use the dowel to connect the two tennis balls together. I also painted the two wooden biscuits with the brown paint.
I used the box cutter to cut a hole into the tennis ball.
You will want to cut a hole into each tennis ball and then use the dowel to attach the balls together.
I cut two ears out of a piece of felt and then painted them brown and added cinnamon.
I used the box cutter to cut two slits into the top tennis ball. You will push the ears down into the slits.
I added hot glue to the biscuits and added the tennis balls on top. These will form feet and help to stand the bunny up.
I glued a coffee stained cotton ball to the back for a tail.
This is so easy to make and I love the simple rustic look. I hope you will have fun, get creative and give this bunny a try.
