Ok we have been doing a lot of DIY’s with wooden shims lately but I think your going to love this one for fall. My favorite candy for Halloween is candy corn. I can sit down and eat a whole bag of it. I wanted to create a few decorative candy corns for my Halloween trees. These are very easy to make and can be used in a variety of ways.

The supplies you will need are:

1. Wooden shims ( I purchased mine from Home Depot)

2. Five gallon stir sticks ( this is optional)

3. Paint ( Im using three colors which are buttercream, pumpkin spice and a marigold )

4. Heavy duty scissors or cutters

5. Paint brush

6. Hot glue

You will use 3 wooden shims for a small candy corn and 6 for a larger candy corn. You will lay out your shims and I will be using the thinner sides for creating the candy corns.

I glued a smaller piece of a wooden shim across the 3 wooden shims. This will hold all the shims together and in place.

I then cut the shape of my candy corn. I did the same process for the larger candy corn.

I used the 5 gallon stir stick to hold the shims together for the larger candy corn. I’m using the large stir stick because I want to be able to stick these into my Halloween tree.

Once your candy corns are all cut out it is then time to paint them.

I used a brown paint for the large stir stick.

These are easy to create and I love them for a tree. You can stick these into a pot of flowers or add a few smaller ones to a wreath on your front door.

I added a piece of twine to the back of the smaller one so that I can hang it onto my tree

I hope you will all get creative and give this a try.
