Doily Craft Using Elmer’s Glue

by blewis | Feb 8, 2025 | Everyday DIY, Home Decor | 19 comments

Ok I’m super exited to say that The Shabby Tree now carries doilies on our website. These doilies come in different sizes and I’m super excited to get creative with them.
Our doilies are available in a white and cream. You can find them on our website by clicking the link down below.

The supplies that I’ll be using are listed down below.
1. Elmer’s glue
2. Water
3. Wax paper
4. Glass bowls in a variety of sizes
5. Needle and embroidery thread
6. Bling
7. Wired pearl strands
The first step is to pour some Elmer’s glue into a bowl.
Once you have the glue into the bowl you’ll then want to add some water. I’m adding a small amount to just thin out the glue. You can add more water if needed.
Mix the water and glue and then add a doily.
Saturate the doily into the glue and squeeze out any excess glue.

You’ll want to place some wax paper over each glass bowl and then place the doily over the wax paper.
Once you have all of the doilies on the bowls you’ll then want to set them aside and let them dry for 24 hours. You can paint on some more Elmer’s glue during drying time if needed.
Once the doilies are dry you’ll then remove them from the bowl and wax paper.
You can glue bling into the center of a small doily or you can use embroidery thread to sew on the bling.
I sewed the smaller doily into the center of two larger doilies forming a fun and unique flower.
Another option is to add a strand of wired pearls to the doily creating a small basket.
These make the cutest baskets for decorations.
I can’t decide which one I like better. These both turned out amazing and I hope you’ll get creative and give these a try.

Two absolutely lovely DIYs. The flowers are beautiful and the basket adorable. Doilies can be used for embellishments to enhance the beauty of other projects. The doilies are just beautiful!!
