Sometimes all a cute little find needs is a fresh twist to truly shine! I spotted the sweetest fabric tree at Home Goods recently, and even though it was adorable on its own, I knew it had the potential for a full Shabby Tree makeover. With just a few simple touches and some of my favorite trims, this little tree went from store-bought to beautifully handmade. If you love easy DIYs that add charm and personality to your home, you’re going to enjoy this one. Let me show you how I transformed it!

Now the supplies for this is simple! You just need a fabric tree from Homegoods, some lace and doilies (I used the ones from our website), surebonder glue, and some scissors.

I started with the bottom hoop because it felt a little plain.

Using our lace, I brightened it up by cutting small pieces and gently tucking them between the layers of fabric. This step is so quick and easy, and it instantly softens the look.

This was so simple to do!

Once I had the placement just right, I added small touches of Surebonder glue to secure the lace in place.

For the next hoop, I wanted to bring in a bit of dimension. I took one of my large doilies and cut out the center.

Then I measured and cut a long piece of lace to wrap around the hoop.

I started by tucking the fabric around the hoop.

After tucking the lace neatly around it—and adding a little Surebonder glue for stability, I decided to add a bit of fun to this hoop!

I took the doily that we cut and started tucking it into the top part of the hoop.

I added a bit of surebonder glue to secure it. This creates the prettiest tiered effect, which I absolutely love.

Now I am going to cover the next plain hoop with the lace again.

Now higher up, I want to do another tiered look!

I did the same thing again with a bit smaller doily. I cut out the center, tucked it in and added a bit of surebonder glue to keep it secure.

I topped everything off by adding lace to the last few top hoops. Just brightening a few of the hoops made such a big difference—this tree now has a fun, charming look full of texture and personality.

I love how just changing up a few of the hoops gave it a brighter fun look!
