I recently stopped in my local thrift store and found a metal container for 99 cents. This looks like a popcorn tin from Christmas but I knew we could get creative with it. If you are following The Shabby Tree then you probably know that I want to turn this container into a tree container.

Some other supplies I will be using are:

1. Mod podge

2. Paint brush

3. Scissors

4. Two paper placemats  you can find my amazon affiliate link for the placemats down below)

3. Warm caramel colored spray paint

The first step is to cover the container with the spray paint.

It took two coats to cover the container.

Once the spray paint is dry you will want to add the paper placemats. I used the scissors to trim the placemats. You can cut the placemats to fit any size container.

Once you have the placemats trimmed to fit your container you will then add the mod podge to the container.

You will do this in small sections and press the paper placemat down onto the container.

My container is a bigger container so I had to add a second placemat to completely cover the container.

Once you have the container covered you will want to be sure to add more podge over the placemats.

This container turned out amazing and it was so easy to create. Here is my Amazon affiliate link for the paper placemats https://amzn.to/3fj5ZMT?fbclid=IwAR2ZGRIK_qMVj7873rucn6KNHqiWOtgfa_M_irrLej2-KgSP2aKpFJiwde0

I hope you will check out your local thrift stores and give this a try.
