Trash To Treasure Up Cycling An Old Funnel Into A Hanging Pocket

by blewis | Apr 15, 2025 | Easter/Spring, Everyday DIY, Home Decor | 57 comments

I recently found an old rusty funnel in a thrift store that I just know we can get creative with. After looking at this funnel it screams a hanging pocket to me.
The first step is to push down on the funnel to create a pocket look.
Once you have the funnel semi flat you’ll then drill holes on each side.
I added a wire jute for a hanger.
Once you have the hanger added you’ll then add your flowers. You can find the flowers that I’m using on our website by clicking the links down below.

I added a doily to the front to soften the look of the funnel. You can find the doilies on our website by clicking the link down below.

I hope this will inspire you to have fun and get creative with a thrift store find.

Love the way how you can see the potential in something and make it happen. Such a unique idea from something most consider is trash. Love how your mind works ❤️

Barb I love your creativity! I have at times gone dumpster diving to find trash to make into treasures. Most of the best items I have came from trash! Which is good with limited funds. The Bouquet funnel would look great on my front door or my apt. I would love to have it.

OMG this is so cute. This reminds me of my dad so much. Every time that he will go out, he will bring his stuff so I can craft. I remember once he brought one of these to me that he had fun and I turned it into a bird’s nest unfortunately it stayed at my parents house when I got married.i loved this because it brought back memories. Unfortunately, my dad passed away in 2003 and I saw you do this. It made me cry. Thank you for sharing.💝
