If you love transforming unique finds into beautiful decor, you’re going to love this project! I took an old silver piece and gave it a fresh new look using WoodUbend appliques. It’s a simple way to add charm and personality to something you might already have tucked away!
Here are the supplies you will need:
- An old piece of silver that have or thrifted
- WoodUbend Trim
- Pale Gold Patina
- Black Patina
- Woodglue (I used the WoodUbend one)
- A Heatgun
First, I’m starting by giving my silver piece a quick wipe-down to remove any dust. I’m not cleaning or polishing it—I actually love the tarnished look just the way it is!
This is where the magic starts—time to add the WoodUbend!
This stuff is so easy to use! I just grabbed my heat gun and gave the whole piece a good, thorough heating.
As you apply heat, you’ll notice the piece starting to soften. Once it’s warm enough, you’ll be able to gently straighten it out and shape it however you need. Just take your time and let the heat do the work!
Once it’s heated and straightened out, I use a paintbrush to apply a generous amount of wood glue to the back. This helps it stick really well once it’s in place.
Now I press it onto the silver piece, making sure it’s lined up straight and positioned just how I want it.
While it’s still warm, you can easily trim it with scissors to the exact length you need so it meets back up with itself perfectly.
Next, I want to give the WoodUbend trim a fancier look, so I start by brushing on a coat of pale gold patina. I make sure to cover it really well so none of the wood shows through.
I even brush a little of the gold onto the silver itself to help everything blend together beautifully.
Now it’s time to give it that vintage touch by adding a bit of black patina.
I simply brush it over the embellishments on the trim, letting it settle into the details for that aged, antique look.
This turned out to be such a great staple piece—I absolutely love how it came together!
This is one of those pieces you can easily leave out all year long—it works with just about any decor!
