Antique Silver Platter Makeover Using Resin

by blewis | Jul 1, 2025 | Everyday DIY | 16 comments

I love going thrift store shopping and I love looking for old antique silver items. Old silver looks great in my home mixed with my glass and cream items. I recently found a silver platter that was in need of a little makeover.
The supplies that I’ll be using are listed down below.
1. One silver platter
2. Resin
3. Music paper
4. Jewelry
5. Mod podge
The first step is to cover the center of the platter with music paper. I used mod podge for this step.
You’ll want to add the mod podge then the paper.
Be sure to add more mod podge over the paper.
Once the mod podge was dry I then placed the necklaces onto the tray. You can find the necklaces that I’m using on our boutique by clicking the link down below.

I used a touch of hot glue to help secure the necklaces in place.
The last step is to add the resin onto the tray. Be sure to follow the directions on the resin bottles.
Be sure to give the resin a good 24 hours to dry.
This was so easy to do and will look great anywhere in your home. I hope this will inspire you to keep an eye out for some silver items and give resin a try.

I love the looked of old music paper as a background. It’s unique and very vintage looking. When I first glanced at this blog the way the different necklaces were placed on the music paper. Reminded me of a map trail that Lewis and Clarke adventure of. It’s very pretty, Barb.

I love how it turned out. I thought it looked like a map at glance. I don’t think I would use those beautiful necklaces from the Shabby Tree though.
