Christmas has always been one of my favorite times to decorate, and lately I’ve been inspired by the vintage treasures we’ve been adding to the website. I couldn’t wait to gather a few of them and see what I could create. The result is a charming little vintage Christmas display that’s simple to put together and easy to place just about anywhere in your home.
The vintage buckets pictured above are the perfect base for this Christmas display. They add instant charm and give the whole arrangement that timeless look I love. If you’d like to grab a set for yourself, you can find them through the link down below.

For this project, I’m pulling a few treasures from one of our Vintage Christmas boxes that we had on the website, along with some greenery, a candle light, and a little tree you can also find on the site. To bring it all together, you’ll need a piece of styrofoam and a small picture frame as the base for your display.
The first thing you’ll want to do is cut a piece of styrofoam so that it fits snugly inside your container. This will give your display a sturdy base and help keep everything in place.
Once your styrofoam is in place, it’s time to add a little filler to the bucket. I used brown paper, but you can use whatever you have on hand—tissue paper, scrap fabric, or even old gift wrap works great. This just helps keep everything secure and gives the display a nice, finished look.
The brown paper acts as a support, helping to hold the styrofoam securely in place and raising it up closer to the top of the container. This way, your display will sit at just the right height.
I went ahead and tucked a few smaller pieces of the brown paper around the edges of the styrofoam. This helps give it a snug fit so nothing shifts around while you’re building your display.
For a special touch, I’m using one of the small vintage ornaments from our Vintage Christmas box in this display. Since the ornament has a tiny hole at the top, I added a bit of paper to the back and brushed on some glitter paste. This not only fills in the hole but also adds a little sparkle to the piece.
To make sure the ornament stays in place, I glued a small craft stick to the bottom. This way, it can easily be inserted into the styrofoam and stand securely in the display.

For a little extra detail, I took the lid from the container and glued it onto a small wooden candle holder. This gave me a unique base piece that ties right into the vintage look of the display.
This little DIY turned into the cutest riser, and the best part is that it can be used in so many different ways—not just for this display, but for other seasonal decor, too!
The fun part about this project is that there are so many different things you can add to make the display your own. I tucked in a small glitter tree from our website along with another vintage postcard, and I just love how it all came together. It’s such an easy project to create, and the possibilities for customizing it are truly endless!
