I gave this decor piece a quick and easy update using Mod Podge and floral details, then finished it off with a candle ring for a soft, decorative touch. This was such a simple project but made a big difference in the overall look. It’s a great way to refresh home decor without repainting or completely changing the piece. Little updates like this are perfect for adding personality and creating something that feels new while still using what you already have.

A Candle Ring From Our Website: https://theshabbytreeboutique.com/candle-rings/

I loved how these two pieces looked together. They created the perfect base for the idea I had in mind.

European Excellency has so many beautiful options to choose from! I picked up a sheet of the marble rose paper, and it was perfect for this DIY.

I like to tear my pieces instead of cutting them so the edges have a rough, raw look. The imperfect finish works perfectly with this style of decor.

Once I had everything torn out, it was time to start Mod Podging.

Question:  Do you like the birds nest or the candle ring more?

I started with the finial and added the rose design to the larger section.

Next, I grabbed the candle pedestal and added the trim-style rice paper to the beveled area.

I added more detail to the bottom and placed another rose on the larger section.

It really is that simple! I didn’t want to glue the two pieces together so they can be used separately in the future.

You can easily change up the look by using different candle rings in the center and at the bottom.

I hope this easy makeover inspires you to look at your home decor a little differently and have fun giving pieces a simple refresh. Small changes can make such a big impact, and this project is a great reminder that getting creative doesn’t have to be complicated.
