Ok Easter is over and I started pulling out my Americana decorations. You can find so many different Americana decorations in the stores right now but it’s always fun to make some of your own. After going through my craft supplies I decided to create some Americana bells out of a few terra cotta pots.
The supplies that I’ll be using are:
1. Two 4.3 inch terra cotta pots
2. Paint brush
3. Lace colored chalky finish paint by DecoArt
4. Oak colored Gel stain by DecoArt
5. Americana acrylic paint by DecoArt ( colors Deep Midnight Blue and Tuscan Red)
6. Nautical rope from the Dollar Tree
7. Twine from the Dollar Tree
8. Scissors
9. Two 1 1/2 inch bells
The first step is to paint on a few white colored stripes .
Once you have the white stripes painted on you’ll then paint on the red stripes.
I’m using Tuscan Red by DecoArt.
Once you have the red and white stripes painted on you’ll then do the bottom part blue. I’m using Deep Midnight Blue by DecoArt.
Once the blue is dry you’ll then paint on a few white stars.
I want my bells to have more of a primitive look so I added some of the Oak colored gel stain by DecoArt over my bells. You can add a little water to the gel stain so that it won’t be so thick and dark.
Once the gel stain is dry it’s time to add the bells.
You can create one bell to hang or hang two together as I am.
I added the nautical rope through the holes of both bells. You’ll want to tie a knot according to how long you want your bells to hang.
I used a piece of twine to tie the bells to the nautical rope because the nautical rope does not fit through the hole of the bell. Be sure to tie the twine according to how much of the small bell you want showing at the bottom of the larger bell.
These are so cute and I decided to add them to some greenery to hang on a door.
I created a bow out of a few strips of fabric and then tied the bells and bow to a greenery. You can find the greenery on our website by clicking the link down below.

These bells are so easy to make and you can make them any size that you want. I hope you’ll get creative and give this a try.
