I have been wanting to make a simple cloth tree that I can put in my bedroom to pin my broaches to. This tree can be used any where throughout your home.

The supplies you will need are:

1. Large piece of styrofoam. If you want to make my size tree your styrofoam needs to be at least 24 inches long.

2. Glue gun

3. Knife or tool to cut styrofoam

4. Material of your choice ( I’m using a piece of a drop cloth from Home Depot).

5. Tape measure

6. Scissors

7. Container of your choice

8. Dowel

9. Batting

This tree can be made any size that you would like. I want mine to be a little bigger so that I can pin a bunch of my jewelry to it.

The first thing I did was cut my styrofoam.

I marked the center of my styrofoam and then I came down on each side about 24 inches. I made a triangle and then I used a knife to cut it out.

I then traced the styrofoam triangle onto my material . I traced it but adding about an inch and a half the whole way around.

You will need to cut 2 pieces out of your fabric. One for the back and one for the front. Next I added a thin layer of batting to both sides of the styrofoam.

Now it is time to glue your fabric together. I start at the top and work my way down. You want to glue the fabric together as close as you can to the styrofoam going down the sides.

You will glue all 3 sides together but leaving a small opening on the bottom to stick your dowel in.

Once your dowel is in place you then add styrofoam to your bucket and insert your dowel. I then add some moss to cover the styrofoam and you now have an amazing fabric tree. I will be using this tree in my bedroom to pin my broaches to. You can decorate this tree with ribbon or other items. Here at The Shabby Tree I like to shoot out my idea and then I like to see how everyone runs with it and creates it their way.
