If you’re like me and you’re taking down your Easter decorations then you’re probably looking for something to keep out all summer long. I love decorating my trees and I wanted an easy ornament to make that would be great for Memorial Day and Fourth of July. This ornament can be used for your tree or placed onto a wreath.
The supplies you will need are:
1. Sticks from your yard
2. Material
3. Glue
4. Scissors
5. Twine
6. Paint (red, white and blue)
7. Paint brush
You will want to cut your material and you need to cut a rectangle. I am using a piece of cardboard for a pattern.
My cardboard is 6 inches by four inches but you can make your flag any size you want.
I traced my rectangles and then cut them out.
First, you will want to paint your blue onto your material. We are making a flag so you will be painting this in the upper left corner.
I painted the blue rectangle on my flag three inches by two inches.
Next, you will want to paint the red stripes onto your flag as well as paint your stars onto the blue.
Now it is time to glue your sticks onto your flag. This is going to form a frame around your flag.
First, tie a piece of twine to your stick that will be glued onto the top of your flag. This will be the hanger for your flag ornament.
Your sticks should be cut according to the size of your flag. It is best to glue the top and bottom sticks first and then add your side sticks.
I love how this ornament turned out. It is so easy to make and I hope you will all give it a try!
