DIY Flag Using Stir Sticks From Walmart

by blewis | May 5, 2025 | Red, White, & Blue | 12 comments

Summer is right around the corner and I started pulling out my Americana decor. I thought it would be fun to create a fun and easy flag that I can add to my decor this year.

You will find the list of supplies that I’ll be using down below.

  1. Three packs of 5 gallon stir sticks from Walmart
  2. Hot glue
  3. A pair of good cutters
  4. Acrylic paint by Folk Art( Vintage White, Imperial Red and Uniform Blue)
  5. Two doilies from our website
  6. One bling embellishment
The first step is to paint 7 of the stir sticks.
You’ll want to paint 4 of the stir sticks red and the other 3 white.
Once you have the stir sticks painted you’ll then line them up as shown in photo above.
The next step is to cut another stir stick in half. You’ll use these two pieces to secure the 7 stir sticks together.
Add hot glue and place the pieces onto the stir sticks as shown in photo down below.
Once I had the stir sticks secured together I then mixed the blue paint with some water. I dipped the doily into the mixture and squeezed it out.
Once the doily is dry you’ll then glue it in place as shown in photo above.
I added a smaller doily on top and then a bling. You can find the doilies that I used on our website by clicking the link down below.

This was very easy to make and will look great any where in your home. I hope you’ll get creative and give this flag a try.

I am not in the group, but looked at the flag. Very patriotic and the use of the doilies was very unique. Great craft.

I love this flag. As soon as I get to Walmart for supplies I’ll be making this. Thanks Barb for the idea! I just might make one for our close neighbors too.

      It’s beautiful Barb 🇺🇸
I’ll try to make it tonight, but my beautiful little granddaughter is singing tonight and it starts at six our time mountain standard so I will see if I can be there.
      Love all your crafts🫶❤️ 🇺🇸
