DIY Interchangeable Message Board

by blewis | Feb 13, 2025 | Everyday DIY, Home Decor | 17 comments

I was in Walmart and came across some framed circles and rectangles by Plaid that I want to get creative with. After looking at these frames I realized we can use two of them to create a quick and easy interchangeable message board.
You can find the list of supplies that I’ll be using down below.
1. Two framed circles from Walmart
2. Drill and drill bit
3. Two bolts and nuts
4. Doilies
5. Rich Espresso metallic paint
6. Spanish Copper Rub’n Buff
You can find these frames on Walmart by clicking my referral link down below.

The first step is to remove the hanger from one of the frames.
I removed both string hangers from both frames.
The next step is to place both frames on top of each other. Once you have the frames on top of each other you’ll want to drill two holes into the frames. You’ll want your holes across from each other. The nut and bolt will be placed through the holes to secure the frames together.
Before adding the nut and bolt you’ll want to add items to the frames. I’ll be laying some doilies and flowers on top of the bottom frame.
Once you have you’re items placed on top of the bottom frame you’ll then place the other frame on top. Add both nuts and bolts to secure the frames together.
I decided to paint my frame using Rich Espresso metallic paint. This is an optional step. I also used some Spanish Copper Rub’n Buff on the bolts.
I love how you can easily change out the items in the center of the frames and how you can use a chalk marker to write a message. This is such a fun interchangeable message board that can be used any where in your home. This would also be a great message board to add to a wreath for your front door.
You can find the doilies that I used on our website by clicking the link down below.

I hope you’ll get creative and give this message board a try.
