I love decorating for Fall and Halloween and I love creating fun and unique decor. Pumpkins are always a must have decoration for me for Fall but I want to create a fun and unique jack-o-lantern. I want a jack-o-lantern that looks rustic and can be used year after year.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. One plastic bucket (mine is from Dollar General)

2. Dremel

3. Marker

4. Sanding sponge

5. Spray paint (warm caramel color and dark steel color)

6. Black acrylic paint

7. Paint brush

8. Antique stain (I’m using maple color)

You can use any type of plastic bucket. I like the look of this one from Dollar General.

The first step is to draw the face for your jack-o-lantern. I will have the opening of the bucket on top but you can flip the bucket and create your jack-o-lantern with the opening on the bottom. If you create the jack-o-lantern with opening of the bucket facing down you can then add a stem to the top.

Once you have the face drawn onto the bucket you will then use the dremel to cut it out.

I strongly suggest you do this outside because it is very messy.

You will want to use the sanding sponge to get off any loose pieces of the bucket.

You will first cover the whole bucket with the warm caramel colored spray paint.

Once the warm caramel spray paint is dry you will then spray the outside of the bucket with the dark steel colored spray paint.

The last step is add the black paint and the gel stain to give it that rustic look.

I added a lot of the stain around the edges of the face cut outs.

This can be used in your home or outside on your porch. I will be adding a battery operated candle to give a soft glow at night. This is very easy to make and I hope you will give it a try.
