I had a set of cardinal-print playing cards and wanted to turn them into something unique and festive. After exploring my craft stash, I came up with the idea of transforming these cards into a DIY light-up cardinal snow globe. This simple project is perfect for adding a cozy, nature-inspired touch to your holiday decor!

Snow globes with photo slots are readily available at most craft stores, making them a versatile base for creative DIY projects.

These beautiful cardinal-print playing cards were recently featured in our Cardinal Mystery Box, available on our website.

To start, remove the bottom of the snow globe and carefully insert two of the cardinal playing cards. This creates a charming backdrop for your design.

Trim the cardinal playing cards as needed to fit perfectly into the snow globe’s photo slot, ensuring a seamless and polished look.

After inserting the trimmed playing cards into the snow globe, I added a touch of Blue Belle-colored acrylic paint to enhance the design and create a soft, wintry feel.

I carefully created small openings on both sides of the snow globe to accommodate the next steps of the project and add a unique touch to the design.

After the paint dried, I applied a layer of Mod Podge over it and sprinkled on glitter to add a sparkling, festive touch to the snow globe.

I added a 20-count strand of battery-operated lights and a small bird nest to the snow globe for an extra cozy, nature-inspired touch. You can find these items on our website by clicking the links below.
