The Dollar Tree has started putting out their Valentine decorations and one of the items I bought are paper heart doilies. We have created different items using paper heart doilies before but I would like to get creative with them again. A follower of ours sent me a fun idea 2 years ago using a paper heart doily. I would like to give it a try and create it as ornament for our Valentine tree.

The supplies I will be using are :

1. Small paper heart doilies from the Dollar Tree (mine are 6in x 6in)

2. Pages from a book

3. Scissors

4. Hot glue

You will want to roll the pages from the book. I am using an ink pen to help roll the page.

I added touches of hot glue to help keep it rolled. You can also use Elmer’s glue or mod podge for this step .

You will want to roll enough pages to fit across the paper heart doily.

I started glueing the center roll onto the paper doily first. You will want to just add a dab of glue to the center of the roll.

I am only adding a dab of glue at the beginning because you will need to be able to fold back the paper heart doily from the rolled pages.

Once you have all the rolled pages glued onto the paper heart doily you will then cut the shape of your heart.

You will want to make sure to fold back the paper doily when cutting the rolled strips.

Once you have the shape of the heart you will want to go back and add more glue.

I added some glitter around the edge of my heart and added a small embellishment.

You can add some string or ribbon to create a hanger for your heart.

This fun ornament is very easy to make and I hope you will give it a try.
