I seem to have a lot of old books and I have been trying to use some of the pages for different types of crafts. Valentine’s Day is approaching and I thought it would be fun to create some quick and easy hearts using simple strips of paper.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. Pages from a book

2. Hot glue 3. Pipe cleaner

4. Scissors

5. Paper cutter

The first step is to cut some strips of paper. You can use any type of paper for this heart. I am using a few pages from an old book. You can cut your strips any size that you want but I will be cutting my strips one inch wide and using the length of my page which is 8 1/2 inches long.

I cut a total of 10 strips and I cut one silver pipe cleaner in half.

You will be creating a hanger for your heart out of the pipe cleaner. Place the pipe cleaner onto one of the paper strips as shown in photo above.

You will glue two of the strips together at the top with the pipe cleaner in the middle.

Once you have them glued together you will then add 4 more strips onto each side. Be sure to just add a dab of glue to the top section of the paper strip.
Once all the strips of paper are glued in place you will then curve your strips downward as shown in photo below.
You will start glueing one strip from each side together forming a heart shape. Your first heart will be small and then you will get larger as you go.
Once all your strips are glued in place you will want to cut the bottom excess paper off.
I decided to add a staple at the bottom to help secure the bottom of my heart.
I dipped one side of my heart into Elmer’s glue and then into a silver glitter.
This heart is so easy to create and I love how you can make them any size that you want. I hope you will have fun , get creative and give this a try. These will look great hanging on a tree or draped across your mantle.
