It’s time to start decorating for Christmas and you all know how I love to put my trees in a tree rotating stand. The tree rotating stands tend to be much wider then a regular tree stand which makes it harder to find a tree collar that will fit. I don’t like for my tree stand to show so I came up with a very quick and easy way to create a tree collar using poster boards.

The supplies I will be using are:

1. Four poster boards (my poster boards are 22in x 28 in)

2. Glue gun

3. Scissors

4. Tape measure

5. Burlap

6. Velcro

The first thing I did was decide how high I wanted my tree collar to be. My tree will be rotating so I need to be sure that there is enough space for the tree to rotate without any of the branches hitting the top of the tree collar. I will be making my tree collar 12 inches high. I will cut all four poster boards 12 inches wide and leave them 28 inches long.

The next step is to glue the poster boards all together. I used hot glue to glue the ends of the poster boards together.

I overlapped the poster boards about 2 inches when glueing them together.

You want to form one long strip of poster board. Once you have your poster boards glued together wrap your strip of poster board around your tree stand. You want to see if you will need to cut it shorter before applying the burlap or any type of material that you are using.

I will be cutting about 3 1/2 inches off of mine.

The next step is to glue your material onto the poster board. I am using regular hot glue to apply the burlap to the front of the poster board. I am cutting the burlap about an inch wider so that I can fold it over to the back side.

I didn’t want the white to show on the back so I added material to the back side too.

The last step is to add your Velcro strips to the ends of your strip of poster board.

I added the Velcro strips before I added the burlap to the back but you just need to make sure they are added to the ends of your poster board strip.

The last step is to wrap your tree collar around the tree stand and Velcro it in place.

This is so easy to make and I just love how you can create it to match your decor. I used burlap because I love to decorate with neutrals but you can use any type of material you want.

I draped a piece of a lace tablecloth over mine. I hope you will all get creative and give this a try.
