We recently got creative with yarn nail art here at The Shabby Tree and I wanted to give it another try. I love how easy this is to do and I love how there are so many different ways to get creative with it. You can easily create a family memory or image of love using this technique.
The supplies I will be using are:
1. One piece of wood ( I purchased this wood from our Dollar Tree Plus)
2. Nails ( mine are #18×5/8 inch)
3. Hammer
4. Yarn
5. Paint brush
6. Walnut colored gel stain by DecoArt
I want to create a memory of Love for my husband and I. First I traced his hand onto the wood and then I traced mine inside of his.
I love this idea and I think it would be a fun Mother’s day gift if you do the children’s hands.
Once I had the hands drawn I then stained the wood.
The next step is to add the nails. I hammered the nails into the biggest hand first.
Once I had all the nails in place on the biggest hand I then wrapped the yarn.
I wrapped the yarn around each nail and I went around twice.
Once you have the yarn around the first hand you will then add the nails to the second hand.
I used two different colored yarns to help each hand stand out.
I used a chalk pen to write my message.
This was so much fun to make and I just love how it turned out. I hope you will get creative and give this a try.
