I have been decorating for Christmas and I have been using a lot of vintage items throughout my home. My front porch has large colored lights on it and I want to create a smaller tree with a vintage look. I recently bought a strand of vintage colored lights from Walmart and I want to use them to create a fun tree to add to my front porch.
The supplies I will be using are:
1. Cardboard
2. Silver tinsel
3. Hot glue
4. Scissors
5. A strand of vintage lights from Walmart
6. Brown stain
7. Brown glitter
8. Drill and drill bit ( you want to use a drill bit that is similar in size to the light ).
9. Paper to create a pattern
I found it easiest to cut a pattern of a tree out and then trace onto the cardboard.
You can make this tree any size that you want and you can use any type of lights that you want.
Once my tree was cut out of the cardboard I marked where I want my lights to go. I used a drill to drill holes so that I can insert the lights into the cardboard.
I removed the top plastic part of the lights and then inserted the bulb up from the backside of my cardboard.
The next step is to start using the hot glue to attach the tinsel onto the tree.
I used a walnut gel stain on the trunk of my tree and then sprinkled on some glitter.
I attached the plastic pieces of my lights onto the bulbs.
This tree is so easy to make and their are so many different ways to create it. I hope you will have fun and give this fun tree a try.
