I love Halloween and I love decorating for it. We recently got some amazing Halloween paper placemats in and as soon as I saw them I got an idea. I think we can easily use one paper placemat to create a fun vintage pumpkin girl.

The supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. One paper Halloween placemat from our boutique

2. Hot glue

3. Cardboard

4. One dowel or large wooden skewer from the Dollar Tree

5. Xacto knife

6. Poly fil

7. Black chunky yarn

8. Silver tinsel

9. Ink pen

10. Large terra cotta pot and styrofoam ( optional)

11. One piece of black and white check fabric (mine is 38” x 44”)

The first step is to cut out the pumpkin from the paper placemat.

Trace the pumpkin onto the cardboard and cut it out.

I glued a small amount of poly fil onto the center part cardboard with the dowel.

You will want to glue the pumpkin to the top part of the cardboard pumpkin first.

You want the center of the pumpkin to be puffy from the ploy fil. Add some hot glue to the back side of the paper pumpkin.

Press the paper pumpkin down onto the cardboard pumpkin.

You might need to trim some of the cardboard once you have the paper pumpkin glued in place.

You will want to cut a small slit into the center of the fabric. Once you cut the slit you will slide the fabric up the dowel.

Be sure to cut the slit big enough to glue onto the bottom center of the pumpkin.

You will glue the fabric to the bottom front center and back center of the pumpkin.

The next step is to cut 3 strands of chunky yarn. You will be braiding these 3 strands to create arms to your pumpkin girl.

You will cut the strands according to how long you want the arms. I knotted all three strands around the dowel.

Once I had them knotted around the dowel I then braided them.

I added holes in the fabric to slide the arms through.

I glued the arms together in the front. You can you use the Happy Halloween from the paper placemat to make a small sign.

I glued the Happy Halloween to a piece of cardboard.

I placed the dowel into the styrofoam that I placed into the terra cotta pot. You can add a strand of lights to have your pumpkin girl light up.

I added a small strand of tinsel around the neck .

She was so easy to make and think she turned out so cute. I hope you will get creative and give her a try.
