The holidays are quickly approaching and It’s time to start pulling out your decorations. We seem to make a lot of Christmas items here at The Shabby Tree and I thought it would be fun to change it up.I thought it would be fun to create a Turkey decoration for Thanksgiving.
The supplies that I’ll be using are:
1. One small wooden cutting board from Hobby Lobby ( mine us 6.5” x 4.5”)
2. One round wooden circle from Hobby Lobby ( mine is 6.5” )
3. Five giant craft sticks from Walmart
4. One half wooden bead ( mine is 1” )
5. Hot glue
6. Three wooden clothes pins
7. Paint brush
8. Walnut colored Gel Stain by DecoArt
9. Gold Leaf Rub’n Buff
10. Scissors or cutters
The first step is to cut the craft sticks in half.
You’ll now have 10 half craft sticks and you’ll want to stain all 10.
Once you have the craft sticks stained you’ll then stain the other items.
You’ll want to cut one of the clothes pins smaller.
You’ll glue the cutting board onto the round wooden circle first.
Once you have the board and circle glued together you’ll then glue the wooden half bead on.
The wooden half bead gets glued to the top of the cutting board handle as shown in photo above.
The next step is to glue the crafts sticks to the back side of the wooden circle.
You’ll glue all 10 crafts sticks to the back side as shown in photo above.
I added glue to the clothes and set the turkey on top you will add the third clothes pin to the back side for support.
I rubbed some of the Gold Leaf Rub’n Buff onto the craft sticks.
I did not stain the back side but you can if you want. This turkey is very easy to make and will make a great Fall decoration.
I hope you’ll get creative and give this fun Diy a try.
