I love popping into different stores to see what fun finds I can get creative with! I stopped by Five Below the other day and found the cutest sketchbooks that would be perfect for junk journaling. Of course, I had to give them a little extra Shabby Tree touch — so here’s what I did!

This sketchbook is so fun because the frame is layered over the photo, which means you can slide anything you want behind it. You’ll see below how easy it is to make it your own!

I started by gathering a few brooches from our website, a pair of pliers, my hot glue gun, and the notebook.

Now the brooches that I used are no longer available, but you can find other ones on our website here: https://theshabbytreeboutique.com/golden-heirloom-brooch-set-3-packs/?searchid=879161&search_query=brooches

I started by popping the pin off the back of each brooch so I could use them as pretty little bling pieces. This was super simple to do!

I ended up using three brooches for each corner, and I stuck with three different colors throughout the whole notebook.

I laid them all out exactly how I wanted them, then used hot glue to secure each one in place.

I love the pop of sparkle the bling added to the corners, but there was one more thing I wanted to do to this particular notebook. I decided to overlay the picture that came inside with a simple piece of rice paper from European Excellency! You can do this for any holiday!

All I did for this was cut out the Santa photo to fit the space and tape it on! So simple!

I love how the Santa one turned out, it is going to be perfect to leave out on the coffee table for the Christmas season! Fun Christmas question: What is your favorite kind of Christmas cookies?

I love how something so simple can be turned into something beautiful and unique! This would be so fun to use for junk journaling, notes, prayers, or even as a sweet gift. Be sure to keep an eye out the next time you’re shopping — you never know what you can get creative with!
