I recently saw a cute round metal lantern in a magazine and I want to try and make one. We’re always creating fun and unique items here at The Shabby Tree and I really think we can create a fun and unique lantern. I want this lantern to be very easy to make which is why I chose the supplies listed down below.

The supplies that we’ll be using are:

1. One bucket from the Dollar Tree

2. X-acto knife

3. Scissors

4. Gorilla contact adhesive

5. Wood stem from the Dollar Tree

6. One 4.3 inch terra cotta pot and tray

7. Ruler stick

8. Black spray paint

The first step is to cut the bucket right at the line as shown in photo above. This is much easier to do with a box cutter or an x-acto knife.

Once I had the top part of the bucket cut off I then measured 3.5 inches down from the top of the bottom piece of bucket.

I made small marks going around the entire bucket and then I cut the bucket.

You can use the scissors to trim any uneven areas that you might have.

Once you have the 3.5 inch piece of bucket cut you’ll then paint all of your items. I’m using a black spray paint but you can use any paint or color that you want.

Once the paint is dry it’s then time to glue the pieces together.

I put a bottle of paint on top of the tray for weight. Once the glue is dry I’ll remove the bottle of paint.

I glued the small wood stem to the top for a decorative piece.

I added a small candle ring and candle to the center.

This is very easy to make and will look great any where in your home. I hope you’ll get creative and give this lantern a try.
