So summer is right around the corner and the flowers will soon be blooming. I love flowers and I thought it would be fun to create a very quick and easy propagation station.
The supplies that I’ll be using are:
1. One piece of wood ( mine is a 9” x 7” x 1” )
2. Hammer
3. Three small nails
4. Metal ribbon from the Dollar Tree
5. Wire from the Dollar Tree
6. Scissors
7. Walnut colored Gel Stain by DecoArt
8. Lace colored Chalky finish paint by DecoArt
9. Paint brush
10. One glass ornament from Hobby Lobby
The first step is to paint your wood. I’m using a Walnut colored Gel Stain by DecoArt but you can use any stain or paint that you want.
I decided to add some lace colored chalky finish paint over the stain.
Once you have the wood painted it’s then time to create a holder for the ornament. I’ll be using the metal ribbon to create a pocket that the ornament can slide into.
You’ll want to wrap the metal ribbon around the center of the ornament and cut the ribbon to size.
You want to secure the ends in place with the wire. Be sure that your ends of the metal ribbon overlap each other. You’ll use a piece of wire the same way that you would use a needle and thread.
Once you have this piece secured together you’ll need to cut another piece of the metal ribbon.
This piece will create the bottom part of the pocket. You’ll want to bend the end over the previous piece of ribbon.
You want to make sure that the glass ornament slides down into the pocket. Once you slide the ornament down into the pocket cut the metal ribbon to size and fold the back side over the previous piece of ribbon.
You’ll use the wire to secure the back and front piece in place.
The next step is to hammer the metal ribbon piece onto the wood.
I placed the metal ribbon piece down towards the bottom of the wood. You can use 3 small nails across the center ribbon piece.
You’ll slide the ornament down into the picket. I drilled two holes at the top of the wood to make a hanger.
You’ll pour some water into the ornament and then add your flower.
This was so easy to make and I hope you’ll get creative and give it a try.
