The stores are starting to put out all of their Fall and Halloween items. I was in Walmart and came across the cutest newborn baby Halloween outfit. As soon as I saw this outfit I just knew it would be perfect for creating a scarecrow doll.

I purchased the 0-3 month size in this outfit.

The supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. One newborn outfit from Walmart

2. Surebonder fabric glue sticks

3. Hot glue gun

4. Scissors

5. Muslin fabric

6. Poly-fill stuffing

7. Raffia

8. Americana acrylic paint by DecoArt ( Spiced Pumpkin and Lamp Black)

9. Paint brush

The first step is to draw the shape of a head for your doll onto the muslin fabric. You will need to decide how big to make the head but be sure to make a long neck.

You’ll want to cut two pieces of fabric for the head. Once you have both pieces cut out you’ll then glue them together with the surebonder fabric glue.

Once you have both pieces glued together you’ll then add the stuffing.

Be sure to glue the bottom opening shut.

The next step is to paint the head with the Spiced Pumpkin colored paint.

You’ll let the head dry and begin to add the raffia to the outfit.

You’ll add some of the surebonder glue to the inside of the outfit at the ends of the arms and legs.

You’ll add some raffia to the inside and squeeze around the material.

You’ll do this to both arms and legs as shown in photo above.

We’ll be stuffing this outfit so I added some of the surebonder glue in between all of the buttons.

You’ll start adding the stuffing to the entire outfit.

Once you have the outfit stuffed it’s time to add the head.

You’ll need to add some of the stuffing to the hoodie as shown in photo above.

I glued the hoodie to the outer edge of the head. When glueing the hoodie to the head be sure not to glue the very edge of the hoodie to the head. You want to have some room to glue some raffia going around the head and under the hoodie.

Once you have all of the raffia glued in place you’ll then paint on the face.

This fun doll is so quick and easy to make. I hope you’ll get creative and give this a try.
