I recently found some large clear plastic bowls in Dollar General. As soon as I saw them I knew we would be able to get creative with them. The store’s are starting to put out their Christmas decorations and I’ve been seeing a lot of snow globes. I thought it would be fun and very easy to turn one clear plastic bowl into a fun and unique snow globe.

The supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. One 5Qt. clear plastic bowl from Dollar General

2. One piece of cardboard

3. Hot glue

4. Silver tinsel from our website

5. One Santa dummy board from our website

6. Two bottle brush trees

7. Two boxes of Christmas snow from our website

8. Scissors

9. X-acto knife

10. Paint brush

11. Tin colored metallic paint by DecoArt

12. Blue Haven colored acrylic paint by DecoArt

The first step is to remove the sticker from the bowl.

Trace the bowl onto the cardboard and then place marks a half inch out from the bowl.

I wanted to create a base for the snow globe. It was easier to cut out a pattern and then trace it. I folded a piece of paper in half and the top is 6 inches across and the bottom ended up being 9 1/2 inches across. The center fold will help to make the base even. The photo above will show my measurements. Be sure to draw the outline around the bowl and then cut your snow globe out.

It was much easier to cut the snow globe out with an x-acto knife.

I painted the bottom base of the snow globe with the tin colored metallic paint.

I painted the top of the snow globe with the Blue Haven colored acrylic paint.

Once I had the snow globe painted I then glued on the Santa dummy board.

I glued him in the center but up higher so that the snow can be at the bottom. You can find the Santa on our website by clicking the link down below.

I set the bowl on top to see where I want to glue the bottle brush trees.

Once I had the trees glued in place I then added the Christmas snow.

I decided to add 2 boxes of the Christmas snow. You can find this snow on our website by clicking the link down below.

I then added hot glue to the edge of the bowl and glued in place as shown in photo above.

I added hot glue and then added silver tinsel.

I went around the snow globe 3 times with the tinsel. It took one roll of tinsel from our website. You can find the tinsel by clicking the link down below.

This snow globe is so easy to make and will look great any where in your home. I hope you’ll get creative and give this a try.
