I found myself in Dollar General going up and down their isles. Dollar General has so many great items but a grater is the item that caught my eye. This grater is a fun and unique shape and I know there are so many different ways that we can get creative with it. I just know that we can quickly and easily turn this grater into a light up tree.

You’ll find this grater in the kitchen isle where they have their pots and utensils.

The items that I’ll be using are:

1. One grater from Dollar General

2. Hot glue

3. One small dowel or stick

4. Elmer’s glue

5. Fine gold glitter

6. Seaweed color spray paint

7. Wooden stars from our website

8. Spanish moss

The first step is to remove the handle from the grater. This is very easy to remove with a screw driver.

Once you have the handle removed you’ll spray paint the grater.

I used a Seaweed Green colored spray paint but you can use any color that you want.

The wooden stars have a clothespin on them that I removed. You can find these clothes pins on our website by clicking the link below.

Once I had the clothespins removed I then glued the stars to a small wooden dowel.

I covered the stars with Elmer’s glue and then sprinkled on a fine gold glitter.

You can find the glitter that I’m using on 143 vinyl by clicking the link below.

I cut the end of my dowel and placed the Spanish moss and the star into to the top of the grater.

I added a small battery operated candle under the grater.

This tree was so quick and easy to make and I hope you’ll give it a try.
