We seem to use napkins on a lot of our crafts here at The Shabby Tree. You can find so many pretty napkins for Spring and Summer right now. I always like to give little gifts for all holidays and Easter is right around the corner. You can find small canvas bags in Hobby Lobby for $1.99 and I think we can turn it into a cute decorative bag that would make a perfect gift for anyone. I thought it would be fun to transfer a napkin onto one of the small canvas bags.

The supplies that we’ll be using are:

1. Small canvas bag from Hobby Lobby

2. Napkin

3. Scissors

4. Iron

5. Glad cling wrap

6. Parchment paper or wax paper

7. Mod Podge for fabric

8. Paint brush

I’ll be adding the napkin to one side of the bag.

The first step is to remove the back layers of the napkin.

You’ll want to cut a piece of the cling wrap a bit larger then the bag. Place the cling wrap onto the bag. The next step is to cut your napkin to size and then place that on top of the cling wrap.

Place your piece of parchment paper or wax paper over the napkin and cling wrap.

Once your iron is heated up you’ll then iron over the wax paper. I have my iron on medium heat. Be sure to do this over a protected work surface.

The cling wrap will melt and attach the napkin to the bag. This technique will keep your napkin nice and smooth.

I decided to add a coat of the mod podge for fabric over the napkin. This will give the napkin more protection.

There are so many different ways you can decorate these bags. I added some chenille ribbon to a few.

These bags are very easy to make and would make a great gift idea. You can use these for all different things. These can even be used for a fun and unique decoration.

I find some of my napkins in Home Goods and I also order some from European Excellency. You can find the link for European Excellency down below. Be sure to use Code Barb at checkout for a 10% discount.
