Whenever we head to market, I always love seeing what new trends are popping up with our wholesale vendors. One thing we’ve been seeing everywhere lately is lace and doily accents added to clothing, and you know I immediately started thinking about how we could create that same look ourselves!

I decided to take a jacket from our boutique and give it a whole new look using some lace and doilies from our craft stash. This is such a fun way to turn something basic into a one-of-a-kind piece, and the best part is you can really get creative and make it your own.

Here is what I used for this DIY:

1. I grabbed my sewing machine

2. You can find the jacket I used here: https://theshabbytreeboutique.com/mountain-air-jacket/?searchuuid=ff3485e6-d577-4f09-b3a7-70eb8a2396ff&search_query=mountain+air

3. Some lace and doilies from our new Shabby Chic Creativity box.

There’s really no right or wrong way to do this DIY. I simply laid the jacket out and played around with the lace until I liked how everything looked. This particular jacket worked perfectly because I could use the raw seams as a guide for placing the lace.

I used my sewing machine, but if you don’t have one, don’t worry! You can still do this DIY! Just grab your hot glue gun and some surebonder fabric glue sticks!

Once I had the lace in place, I added a doily to the front over the flannel section. I feel like that little extra detail really completed the whole look!

I love how this shirt makeover turned out! The lace and doily details give it such a fun, one-of-a-kind look and are an easy way to bring some of those boutique styles we’re seeing at market into your own closet. Dig through your lace, doilies, and old shirts and see what you can come up with. There are so many ways to make this idea your own!

And be sure to check out our Shabby Chic Creativity Box! It’s filled with lots of doilies, ribbon, and fun pieces you can use to get creative and add your own shabby chic touch.
