I recently stopped by my local thrift store and picked up a few clothing items that caught my eye. As soon as I saw them, I knew they would be perfect for creating some simple Americana decor. For this DIY, weโll be using one of those thrifted pieces to create a fun and easy Americana pillow.

Iโll be using a pair of jeans, two tops, Poly-Fil, and Surebonder Fabric Glue.

The first step is to cut the legs off of the jeans.

Once the leg is cut off, youโll then cut along the side seam to open the denim piece up.

The first step is to add some of the Surebonder Fabric Glue to the bottom section of the leg. Be sure to leave about 2 inches from the bottom edge.

Once the bottom is glued, youโll then add glue along the sides.

You can make this pillow any length youโd like. Iโll be making mine about 20 inches long.
Next, stuff the pillow with the Poly-Fil and then add the Surebonder Fabric Glue to the open end.

Once all four sides are glued, you can trim away the excess denim.

The next step is to create a small flag using pieces of fabric from the tops.

Use the fabric glue to secure the fabric pieces in place. I also decided to give the end of my pillow a frayed look by cutting a few strips into the denim.

The next step is to create a pillow using the top part of the jeans. I added some fabric glue along the sides to bring in the width of the jeans.

Once the sides are glued, cut along the bottom to create the bottom edge of the pillow.

The next step is to add the fabric glue to the inside of the bottom edge. Once the bottom is glued shut, youโll then glue half of the top closed.

The last step is to add the Poly-Fil and then glue the opening closed.

I decided to add some lace to the bottom edge and create a small flag on the pocket.

These pillows were so easy to make and will be a fun decoration for the summer.

I hope youโll get creative and give this DIY a try!
