I recently went to our local thrift store and found a small Christmas metal container. This container was $1.09 and I just knew we could give it a fun makeover.

This will be a very easy makeover and the supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. One metal container from my local thrift store

2. Drill and drill bit

3. Warm Caramel colored spray paint by Rust-oleum

4. Polyurethane spray

5. Cinnamon

6. Mod Podge

7. Walnut colored gel stain by DecoArt

8. Paint brush

9. Rice paper

The first thing that I did was drill holes into the container.

I decided to drill holes around the circles that are on the container. The circles on the container made it easy to drill even circles.

Once I had all of the holes drilled I then sprayed on the warm caramel spray paint.

Once the spray paint was dry I then painted on the walnut colored gel stain.

I added some pieces of rice paper to the center of each circle.

I painted on some mod podge and then added the rice paper.

Once I had all of the rice paper in place I then added more mod podge and then sprinkled on the cinnamon.

The last step is to spray on the polyurethane.

I want this to look more like a lamp so I added a few items. This container will go on top of an old spool with a candle ring.

I’ll also be adding a strand of 50ct battery operated lights. You can find these items on our website by clicking the links down below.

This was very easy to make and will look great any where in my home. I hope this will inspire you to get creative and give something a simple makeover.
