I have always loved vintage Christmas decor and one of my favorite items is a vintage ceramic Christmas tree. The lights on the ceramic Christmas trees have always caught my eye. I recently ordered a few packs of the replacement bulbs from Amazon.
I think we can get very creative and create a fun and unique vintage tree on canvas.
The supplies that I’ll be using are:
1. One pack of the ceramic Christmas tree replacement bulbs. ( You can find my amazon affiliate link for the ones I ordered down below)
2. Two canvases ( mine are 12×24)
3. Exacto knife
4. Hot glue
5. Acrylic paint by DecoArt ( colors Espresso, Blue Haven and Forest Green)
6. Paint brush
You will want to paint both of your canvases with the Blue Haven.
Once you have both of the canvases you will want to draw your tree. You can draw your tree any shape that your want.
You will want to paint the tree with the Forest Green.
I used the Espresso for the trunk.
The next step is to create small holes in the tree using the exacto knife. You want to be sure to keep the holes small so that the lights will fit snug in the hole.
You will add as many of the lights that you want.
My canvas has a strip of wood going across the center back. I used some pliers to remove the wood.
I did this to both canvases.
Once I had all of my lights added to the canvas I then added a small drop of hot glue to the back of each light.
You will want to glue both canvases together as shown in photo above.
I cut two slits on the back side and added battery operated lights.
You can find the exact replacement bulbs that I ordered with my Amazon affiliate link up above.
This tree is so easy to make and looks amazing lit up at night. I hope you will get creative and give this fun tree a try.
