It is getting closer to the time where we all start thinking about decorating for fall and Halloween. I am a huge crafter and I love DIY’s so I have been trying to think of ways to make some Halloween decor on a budget. I love using paper mache items and as soon as I saw this large paper mache cone I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

For this project you will need a large paper mache cone, a large round flat wooden circle, a glue gun, black paint (I’m using black flat spray paint), Elmer’s glue, gold glitter and ribbon of your choice (I’m using a burlap ribbon).

The first step is to paint your cone and flat wooden circle black.

I spray painted mine. It took 2 light coats of spray paint for the cone and circle to be completely covered. Be sure to spray paint both sides of your wooden circle.

The next step is to take your hot glue gun and glue the bottom opening of cone to your wooden circle. Make sure you place your cone in the center of the circle.

Now take your ribbon and wrap it around the base of the cone. I am cutting my burlap ribbon in half so that it will be a skinnier strip.

Once your ribbon is glued on, take your Elmer’s glue and make a buckle on the front of hat.

Next sprinkle your gold glitter onto the Elmer’s glue

You now have a witch hat that can be used for Halloween decore throughout your home. These hats can be made all different sizes and therefore they can be incorporated into your decor in many different ways!
