I found myself in Walmart today walking up and down the isles. They had some small grapevine wreaths that caught my eye. I have been wanting to create something different and special for Easter and the grapevine wreath gave me an idea.

We can easily turn a grapevine wreath into a crown of thorns.

The supplies that we’ll be using are:

1. One 12 inch grapevine wreath

2. Walnut colored gel stain by DecoArt

3. Bamboo skewers

4. Paint brush

5. Six popsicle sticks

6. Hot glue

7. Cutters

I’m using a 12 inch grapevine wreath from Walmart. You can use any size grapevine wreath that you want.

The first step is to paint the pointy end of bamboo skewer with the walnut colored gel stain.

I painted about 30 of the bamboo skewers.

The next step is to cut the bamboo skewers. Mine are cut about 3 inches long.

Once you have your skewers cut you’ll then randomly stick them into the grapevine wreath.

I cut the popsicle sticks and glued them together to form 3 crosses. Once I had them glued together I then painted them with the Walnut colored gel stain.

You can use this crown of thorns as a wreath or as a candle ring.

This is very easy to make and will look great any where in your home. I hope you’ll get creative and give this a try.
