DIY Carrot Using Paper Plate Roses

by blewis | Mar 19, 2025 | Easter/Spring | 12 comments

If you’re part of The Shabby Tree then you might remember us making paper plate roses a few years ago. I thought it would be fun to use some paper plate roses to make a fun and unique carrot.
I made my roses orange by mixing some orange acrylic paint with water and painting it on the back and front of each plate. You can see how to make the actual rose by clicking the link down below.

Once you have the roses made you’ll want to create the shape of a carrot out of a piece of cardboard.
You’ll want to first make a pattern for the carrot. I folded a piece of paper in half and marked it twelve inches long.
I went over 3 inches from the fold as shown in photo above.
Draw a line from each mark and then cut the carrot out.
Trace the carrot onto the cardboard and cut it out.
The first step is to glue some greenery sprigs to the top of the carrot. I’m using a baby grass sprig from our website. You can find this on our website by clicking the link down below.

You’ll glue the greenery to the top of the cardboard as shown in photo above.
Once you have the sprigs glued in place you’ll then glue on some moss.
Once you have the moss glued on you’ll then glue on the roses.
This carrot will look great any where in your home. I hope you’ll get creative and give this carrot a try.
