If you love creating decor that feels cozy, creative, and a little unexpected, this project is for you. I’m sharing how to turn something as simple as a wire hanger into a charming light-up heart that’s perfect for adding warmth to your home. This DIY is budget-friendly, easy to customize, and a great reminder that some of the best decorations start with what we already have on hand. Grab a wire hanger and let’s get creative—because simple projects like this are what crafting is all about.

Here is what you will need for this DIY:
1. A Wire Hanger
2. Ivory Ribbon
3. Silver Tinsel
4. Pearl Garland
5. A strand of battery opeated 50 count lights
6. A hot glue gun

We started with a simple wire hanger, which is one of my favorite craft supplies to keep on hand. It’s amazing how many projects you can create with something this basic. I buy mine in bulk from Amazon so I always have them ready for crafting. You can find the exact ones I used here.

Next, I shaped the wire hanger into a heart. This step is very simple and doesn’t have to be perfect — just bend the wire gently until you’re happy with the shape.

Next, I wrapped the wire hanger with the silver tinsel from our website. This step really helps bring the heart to life and adds that fun sparkle we all love. You can find the exact tinsel I used here: https://theshabbytreeboutique.com/shop-mBiWY/p/9-vintage-silver-tinsel?searchid=687538&search_query=silver+tinsel

I made sure to wrap it really well so the wire hanger was completely covered and couldn’t be seen. This helps give the heart a clean, finished look.

To finish it off, I added a small amount of hot glue to the top to help secure everything in place and keep the tinsel from shifting.

I used small touches of hot glue throughout to secure the ribbon to the heart and keep everything nicely in place.

This is where you can really get creative and use what you have on hand. I added a little more tinsel along with some pearls, but any beads or embellishments you love will work perfectly for this step.

Now, I wanted to give this DIY a bam and of course that means we needed some twinkle lights! I used our 50 Count Battery Operated Wire Lights from our website!
You can find them here: https://theshabbytreeboutique.com/shop-mBiWY/p/50-count-battery-operated-wire-lights?searchid=687569&search_query=50+count

I wrapped everything all the way around the heart, and since this piece will be hanging, I’ll simply tuck the battery pack under the garland so it stays hidden.

You can also attach this heart to a wreath and tuck the battery pack right into the greenery to keep it hidden while still giving it a beautiful glow.

I love how this light-up heart turned out, and it’s such a fun reminder that simple supplies can turn into something really special. Whether you hang it on a mantel, tuck it into a wreath, or use it as part of your seasonal decor, this little heart adds the sweetest glow. I hope this project inspires you to look at everyday items in a new way and get creative with what you already have. Thanks so much for crafting along with me!
