We’re always looking for creative ways to turn everyday finds into something special here at The Shabby Tree. Lately, I’ve been having so much fun hunting through local antique shops and thrift stores for unique treasures that are just waiting for a makeover. There is nothing better than giving a forgotten piece new life!
One of my favorite things to look for is vintage watches. You can often find old watches tucked away in thrift stores that can easily be transformed into one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. With just a little creativity, these thrifted finds can become beautiful statement accessories that add character and charm to any outfit.
If you love thrift store makeovers, DIY jewelry projects, and creating unique handmade accessories, this is such a fun and budget-friendly craft idea to try!

Be sure to dig through your jewelry box and pull out all those old watches that no longer work or that you simply don’t wear anymore. Those forgotten pieces are perfect for a fun thrifted jewelry makeover!
Once you have a good selection of vintage or outdated watches, it’s time to start the creative part. Look for some bling—rhinestones, broken jewelry pieces, charms, or decorative findings—that will pair beautifully with the watches. Mixing old watches with sparkly embellishments is an easy way to create unique DIY statement jewelry that has tons of character and charm.

I’ll be using Gorilla Glue to securely attach the bling pieces right onto the face of the watch. This strong adhesive works great for DIY jewelry projects and helps ensure your embellishments stay in place.
You can also add a small dab of hot glue to temporarily hold the bling where you want it while the Gorilla Glue dries. This little trick makes the process easier and keeps everything from sliding around as you create your one-of-a-kind vintage watch jewelry makeover.

These unique jewelry pieces make such a thoughtful and meaningful gift idea. There’s something extra special about giving a handmade accessory that’s been created with love.
This DIY project is also a fun and creative way to repurpose old watches you already have on hand. Instead of letting them sit in a drawer, you can transform them into one-of-a-kind statement jewelry that’s full of personality and charm. If you enjoy upcycling, thrift store makeovers, and creating unique handmade gifts, this is definitely a project you’ll want to try!
