I recently picked up a few plastic flamingo’s from the Dollar Tree and I would like to try and turn one into a buzzard. Fall and Halloween will be approaching and I thought a few buzzards would be fun to add to my trees on my front porch.

The supplies that I’ll be using are:

1. Plastic flamingo from the Dollar Tree

2. Mop pad from the Dollar Tree

3. Hot glue

4. Scissors

5. Wired twine ( any type of wire will do)

6. Wire cutters

7. Rust-oleum spray paint and the colors I’m using are Warm Caramel and Flat Black

8. Black chalky finish paint by DecoArt

9. Whisper colored chalky finish paint by DecoArt

10. Paint brush

The first step is to spray paint the flamingo. I did half Black and half Warm Caramel as shown in the photo up above.

I coffee stained my mop pad and this is an optional step. You can find a link down below to see how I coffee stain my items.

You will only use half a mop pad for one buzzard.

You will place the mop pad over the neck of the buzzard.

You will want both ends of the mop pad to meet at the bottom of the neck area.

Add some hot glue to hold the mop pad in place.

I added some of the Whisper colored paint to the neck.

You will want to add a small dap of the Black paint to the eye.

I cut 2 strips of the wire about 5 inches long.

I folded the wire in half and then inserted the folded side into the small holes at the bottom of the buzzard. These will act as small feet to help secure the buzzard into my tree.
